The CESCR publishes its latest General Comment (No. 26) on land and economic, social and cultural rights.
End of January 2023, the UN Committee on Economic, Social and Cultural Rights (CESCR) issued General Comment No. 26 (2022) on land and economic, social and cultural rights, aiming “to clarify States’ obligations regarding the access to, use of and control over land, particularly about pressing issues affecting human rights such as eviction of land users, international investment, land-related conflicts, and climate change.”
General Comment No. 26 contains, as previous General Comments, several explicit provisions on States’ extraterritorial obligations to respect, protect and to fulfil.
